
Kathryn A. Garrity, FSA, EA, MAAA
Chief Actuary
Kathy joined UAS in 2005 and currently serves as Chief Actuary. In this role she is responsible for review of actuarial policies, procedures, and assumptions. This includes both compliance with professional actuarial standards and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Kathy is a consultant to 19 multiemployer pension funds and provides valuation support on an additional 11 multiemployer pension funds. She is also responsible for the review of certain welfare plan modeling including FASB ASC 965 (formerly SOP 92-6) valuations, and Medicare Part D actuarial attestations.
Prior to joining UAS, Kathy had more than 15 years of experience in pension and post-retirement welfare consulting. Her background includes cost and design analysis for plans in a variety of industries. Kathy earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics, and she is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries (FCA), a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), and an Enrolled Actuary (EA) under the provisions of ERISA.
